Summary

Navartis have been exclusively retained by a well-recognised firm in the rail sector to recruit a Travelling Train Technician.

The working situation for this role offers variety – seeing you become part of the train crew for roughly two months of the year, otherwise based from a depot in Hamilton.

This role will offer a wide portfolio of areas to dive into, covering various systems such as electrical & mechanical as well as plumbing and generators – acting as a point of reference for all technical aspects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing inspections, maintenance and routine repairs on a variety of inner workings of units
  • Handle troubleshooting, resolving any technical problems that may arise
  • Provide accurate inventory of spare parts and tools
  • Resolve any sudden emergencies – ensuring full comfort and safety for passengers
  • Partake in décor elements of the trains – trims, woodwork and decorative finishes
  • Take part in opportunities to upskill, putting efficiency of the running unit as top priority

Seeking candidates with:

  • Background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
  • Previous history in the transportation industry, with demonstratable skills
  • Flexible mindset – take on various different areas of maintenance
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Flexibility in terms of working arrangements – able to accommodate where required

Package on offer:

  • Salary of up to £38,000 (dependant on experience)
