Job Title: Lead Design Engineer

Location: Birstall

(Also a Sheffield office)

Salary: Up to £55,000 (DOE)

A fantastic opportunity for a Lead Design Engineer has arisen within a leading multi-utilities infrastructure organisation, to work on residential and commercial multi utility installations.

Key responsibilities for this role:

  • Liaising with DNOs/IDNOs regarding their requirements and specifications to obtain all relevant information to undertake electrical network design activities.
  • Manage the design Acceptance process ensuring new projects are logged and designs are approved on time, ensuring approvals are returned within SLA’s and issuing queries/rejections within a timely manner.
  • Updating documentation and making changes to processes.
  • Working with the Operations Team and the Legal Team to ensure smooth adoption of networks.
  • Review customer requirements and provide a broad range of electricity design services on electrical connections to demand and generation developments based on the customer scope of works and the location of the site.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary design team to develop multi-utility network
  • Provide periodic project progression feedback to the Design Manager and update the appropriate systems accordingly.
  • Process project variations with due consideration for implications to the following: design, commercial, client relationship, and supply chain.
  • Assess Point of Connection request on IDNO network and offer PoC within SLA
  • Assess Micro Generation G98/99 and G100 applications and respond customers within SLA
  • Assess Electric Vehicle Home and communal charging connections
  • Update Design data and keep data in Presentable format

Experience/qualifications required for this role:

  • Relevant degree, HND or time served
  • A Minimum of 3-5 years experience
  • Multi-utility background or an electrical background is essential
  • Must be able to demonstrate a robust knowledge of industry standards, policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, good attention to detail, well organised and the ability to work autonomously are essential qualities
