Technical Director

As Technical Director, you will take overall responsibility for the technical strategy and execution of our railway projects. You will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensure compliance with the highest safety and quality standards, and drive innovation across our portfolio.  

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall technical leadership and strategic direction across all railway projects.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams (signaling, train control, software, hardware).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality, safety, and certification standards in the railway sector.
  • Oversee technical contributions to bids, tenders, and customer projects.
  • Manage technical planning, development, and integration of system solutions.
  • Represent the company in technical committees, standardization bodies, and with authorities.
  • Drive innovation strategies and continuous improvement in alignment with senior management.
  • Monitor technical risks and manage changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support long-term workforce and competency development within engineering teams.

Technical Skills, Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Signaling, Computer Science, or related technical discipline (PhD is a plus).
  • At least 10 years of senior technical leadership experience, preferably in the railway industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of interlocking and train control technologies, as well as relevant norms and safety standards (e.g., CENELEC, EN 5012x).
  • Proven experience managing large engineering teams and international projects.
  • Strong track record of working with customers, regulatory bodies, and certification authorities.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with hands-on leadership.
  • Fluent in English and German (minimum C1); additional languages are an advantage.
