The Senior Technical Manager Role:

A well-established, privately owned regional housebuilder based in Warwickshire is looking to appoint a Senior Technical Manager to join their Technical team. The business has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality residential developments and has a solid pipeline of new sites across the region.

This is a senior leadership role within the Technical department, responsible for managing residential developments from land acquisition through to final adoption. You'll take ownership of technical delivery across multiple schemes, ensuring designs are compliant, cost-effective and delivered in line with programme.

Working closely with the Technical Director, Land, Commercial and Construction teams, you'll coordinate external consultants, review technical designs and support engineering and technical appraisals on new land opportunities.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Technical Manager:

  • Managing technical delivery of residential developments from acquisition through to adoption
  • Preparing and reviewing engineering and technical appraisals for new land opportunities
  • Overseeing and reviewing consultant designs for compliance, accuracy and value engineering
  • Managing external consultants in terms of cost, quality and programme
  • Coordinating engineering elements including roads, sewers, utilities, remediation and foundations
  • Ensuring all technical information is compliant with planning conditions, Building Regulations and relevant approvals (S104, S38, S278 etc.)
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on programme and within budget
  • Supporting and mentoring members of the Technical team
  • Identifying and resolving technical challenges to ensure successful project delivery

Key Requirements of the Senior Technical Manager:

  • Proven experience in a Senior Technical / Technical Manager role within housebuilding
  • Strong understanding of engineering and infrastructure in residential development
  • Experience managing the full technical lifecycle from land acquisition to site delivery
  • Good knowledge of planning, Building Regulations and statutory approvals
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, consultants and stakeholders
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Relevant construction or engineering qualification (degree or equivalent preferred)
  • Ability to lead, mentor and support a technical team
