Senior Contract Administrator

Job Description

Our Client is a Mechanical Consulting Firm located in the Downtown Toronto area. They are looking for a skilled Senior Contract Administrator to join their growing team.

 

Job Description – Contract Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Review of contract documents prior to issuance including drawings, specifications and shop drawings.
  • Conduct site reviews of numerous construction projects at various stages of completion. Attend mechanical commissioning activities.
  • Timely preparation and issuance of relevant paperwork such as project site review reports.
  • In coordination with the Project Designer you will also be replying to RFI’s and issuing Change Orders and Site Instructions in a timely manner.
  • Review Shop Drawings and monthly progress draws submitted by contractors and issue certificates of payment to clients.
  • Deal with site issues as they come up and generally manage projects during construction to their successful completion.
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure that the mechanical installations and materials are as per the contract documents and applicable.
  • Assist our staff with any design and construction issues. Coordinate with Architects, Owners and other disciplines.
  • Attend regular site meetings as a representative of the firm in order to address construction or design issues.
  • Travel outside of Toronto city limits where required. Some after-hours work when required by our clients.
  • Develop and foster client relationships for long-term growth.
  • Ensure professional quality services in all facets of work.
  • Provide quality and cost control during the construction process.
  • Strive to accomplish company goals of quality workmanship by improving quality of designs and setting standards.
  • Identify and address the need for additional services and fees to clients in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would be either an experienced mechanical trades-person and or a Mechanical Engineering Technologist graduate with:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology is an asset.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the construction industry, healthcare and a strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical building systems.
  • Detailed understanding of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, air handlers, and fire protection.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Residential multi-family, commercial, health care, and institutional project experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of current codes and standards such as the CSA, BCBC, VBBL, NFPA, etc.
  • Excellent written skills are required as you will be dealing with clients, contractors, subcontractors, the consultant team and other staff members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to portray confidence in meetings with our customers and the construction team and to effectively deal with clients and other personnel.
  • Strong Project Management experience. Good problem-solving skills and able to work independently.  Extensive experience and comfortable using Microsoft word, Outlook, Excel, Bluebeam PDF and similar programs.
  • Must be very well organized, detailed oriented and able to prepare reports and address issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and activities efficiently with a willing to learn attitude.
  • Flexible and accommodating of schedule changes, professional attitude, responsible.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s license and vehicle along with ability to pass police check / security clearance (required for some projects).
