Hydrogeologist

Job Description

We are looking for a Hydrogeologist who will play a pivotal role in groundwater investigation, modeling, and water resource management. Reporting to the Senior Hydrogeologist or Project Manager, you will contribute to planning, executing, and delivering hydrogeological projects across varied sectors—such as environmental consultancy, engineering, or regulatory services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrogeological field investigations, including drilling, groundwater sampling & borehole monitoring
  • Analyze and interpret geological, hydrological and environmental data to develop conceptual groundwater models
  • Development, calibration and application of numerical groundwater flow and mass transport models
  • Preparation of hydrogeological expert reports for complex water rights and water protection area procedures
  • Design and implement groundwater monitoring programs, including selection of instrumentation and data collection strategies

Qualifications

  • You have a university degree as a geologist/geoscientist specializing in hydrogeology or as an engineer specializing in water resources, or a comparable qualification.
  • You already have several years of professional experience in groundwater modeling (MODFLOW, FEFLOW) and possess in-depth hydrogeological and hydrochemical expertise.
  • Ideally, you hold a doctorate (Dr.-Ing. or Dr. rer. nat.) and have a solid understanding of northern German hydrogeology.
  • You have a good level of German fluency
