Commercial Manager - Rail Manufacturing

Location:

Doncaster with travel to other sites as needed.

Salary / Benefits: £60,000 - £75,000 dependant on level of experience plus

- Car / Car allowance

Summary

A successful rail infrastructure contractor specialising in track installation and railway manufacturing is looking to take on a Commercial Manager to developing and growing existing and new areas of business for their UK manufacturing facilities and implementing appropriate systems and processes to reduce costs and improve competitiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

- Educated to degree level in a relevant manufacturing / commercial discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification.
- Demonstrable experience of leading a manufacturing commercial function with a proven track record in delivering effective commercial strategies, policies, processes and systems.
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
- Proven product and industry knowledge.
- Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level.
- Knowledge and technical understanding of manufacturing / commercial processes, components and techniques.

Desirable

- Experience working in manufacturing or production in the railway sector.

Responsibilities:

Commercial

- Identify opportunities to expand the business, including through partnerships, alliances and development of new and existing markets.
- Analyse sales, marketing, finance and other information to gain insights into how to improve performance and maximize growth.
- Develop accurate and consistent quotations, bids and tenders with the help of relevant departments.

Business development

- Assist with the development and implementation the manufacturing strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
- Maintain relationships with current clients and identify new prospects within the area of responsibility.

Product and process development

- Work with the manufacturing units to develop sales forecasting and mix / volume analysis.
- Establish effective procedures for order receipt and translation of customer's requirements into purchase and works orders requirements.
- Standardise cost estimating processes to ensure information submissions for quotations, bids and tenders is accurate and timely.
- Assist in the development of railway related products and other manufactured components.
