Our client is a major contractor delivering large scale civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. Their portfolio includes highways, structures and complex infrastructure schemes for public and private sector clients.

About the Role
You will report to the Head of Bid Management and take full responsibility for leading allocated tenders from early engagement through to handover.
This is a hands-on role where you will manage the full bid process, shape the winning strategy and drive the internal team to deliver a coordinated and commercially sound submission. You will work closely with estimators, planners, technical services, commercial teams and operational leads.
You will also act as the key interface with the client and supply chain throughout the tender period.
The key requirements for this Bid Manager role are:
- Lead and manage the full tender process from kick off to submission
- Develop and drive the bid strategy with business development and sector leads
- Manage the bid programme and control timescales
- Lead internal tender meetings and settlement meetings
- Oversee commercial strategy and risk management
- Coordinate quality submissions and ensure deadlines are met
- Manage communication with clients, partners and supply chain
- Oversee governance and approval processes
- Lead post tender interviews and presentations
- Manage handover to delivery teams on successful bids
Experience required for this Bid Manager role are:
- Proven experience managing bids within UK civil engineering or infrastructure
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial frameworks
- Experience leading multidisciplinary bid teams
- Sound knowledge of UK construction legislation and procurement routes
- Ability to manage risk and opportunity within a tender environment
- Strong client facing and presentation skills
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of margin delivery
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Bid Manager role are:
- Experience working on highways or major infrastructure schemes
- Experience within a Tier 1 or large regional contractor
- Knowledge of structured governance processes within a corporate environment
