  • Maintain a good understanding and working knowledge of and plan safe systems of work.

  • Work closely with Line Safety Staff and Operatives and safely, as set out in the Rule Book.

  • Assist in planning protection arrangements.

  • Work closely with the construction manager and Planning Engineers to identify all available possessions

  • Brief all appropriate management and construction teams on possession arrangements, planning possession/protection arrangements.

​Barrie is a city situated in Toronto, Canada, which sits on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay. As of the census in 2016 the population was recorded at 141,434 and covers an area of approximately 38 square miles. Barrie has seen numerous large scale construction projects over the past couple of years and has multiple constructions projects in the pipeline, such as:

Morrow Road reconstruction

Construction work on this $3.6m tender began in summer 2018 and included storm culvert, sewer and water main replacements and road surface improvements. The bulk of construction is done, though some utility work is planned over the duration of the winter. Surface asphalt will be added in late spring or early summer.

Duckworth Street reconstruction

This is the first of two phases in the reconstruction of Duckworth. The $2.7m tender on the first phase runs from St. Vincent Street to Melrose Avenue. Work was initially scheduled to begin this year, but the project was advanced due to poor road condition.

A new water main and sanitary and storm sewers, sidewalks and curbs are included in the work.
