Warranty and Supply Chain Engineer

An exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's leading Train Operating Companies as a Warranty and Supply Chain Engineer, providing specialist warranty and supply chain management and engineering support for the fleet.

This role will include taking responsibility for monitoring the performance for all major components covered by supplier warranty and supporting any product improvements with the suppliers of the components.

You will also work with the Engineering Contracts Manager to ensure that external suppliers are fulfilling their contractual responsibilities re: material supply, reliability and warranty performance. Alongside working with Stores and Logistics team to process and conclude all appropriate warranty claim paperwork.

Key responsibilities for this Warranty and Supply Chain Engineer role:

- Assist the Tech Office to develop improvements to the reliability of the fleets through the use of warranty and product improvement.
- Develop and monitor appropriate KPI's to measure fleet warranty claims and warranty component performance.
- Attend joint investigations with suppliers and manufacturers and issue outcome reports as required.
- Maintain and improve current warranty database and provide periodic reports
- Responsible for working with the major component suppliers to improve their product, to include suggestions for engineering change in conjunction with the Tech Office at a component level.
- Lead initiatives to better identify opportunities to make warranty claims for post work units and components issued through stores.
- Identification of emerging defect trends and proposals for action
- Capable of providing strong supporting evidence and argument that warranty claims are valid.
- Attend user groups and other forums that promote best practice in component performance.
- Assist the existing Stores/purchasing teams in their day-to-day activities when required.
- Assist in any Projects within the Head of Engineering Commercial's scope when requested.


Experience required for this Warranty and Supply Chain Engineer role:

- Working knowledge of CRCL Planning and Warranty Processes
- Technical knowledge of modern diesel multiple unit design and components, maintenance and operation.
- Good knowledge of fleet related rail industry standards and specifications.
- Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office applications and CRCL systems.
- Experience of risk assessment and root cause analysis processes.
- Excellent report writing skills
- The job holder is required to hold a relevant Track Safety competence (e.g. PTS) - Desirable
- Hold a valid UK driving licence
