Technical Design Lead - Data Centres (Europe)
*OPEN TO CANDIDATES BASED IN MANCHESTER, LONDON, STOCKHOLM, MADRID, DUBLIN, MILAN, FRANKFURT, EDINBURGH*
We are supporting a global, multidisciplinary consultancy with the appointment of an experienced Technical Design Lead to join their expanding Data Centre team. This is a Senior, Client facing position, leading the design and delivery of complex Hyperscale, Colocation, and Enterprise Data Centre projects across the UK, and mainland Europe.
Regular travel across UK & European is required.
Key Responsibilities - Technical Design Lead
- Lead and coordinate design teams, including Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire, Security, ICT, and BMS/EPMS
- Manage the full design lifecycle of data centre projects, from planning through to concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction documentation
- Own the design journey from early site assessments and campus planning through concept, detailed design, and construction documentation
- Act as a trusted technical partner to clients, leading workshops, presentations, and design reviews
- Making sure designs are technically robust, as well as practical, buildable, and aligned with programme and budget expectations
- Collaborate closely with local delivery teams to ensure compliance with local codes, permitting, and regulatory requirements
- Spotting risks early and working collaboratively to solve problems before they become escalated
Requirements - Technical Design Lead
- Chartered Engineer or Architect (or equivalent) with Data Centre backing
- Confidence to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams and taking ownership of complex design challenges
- Demonstrable experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams on complex technical projects
- Strong knowledge of building systems, compliance, and construction methodologies within mission critical environments
- Working knowledge of Revit and digital design workflows
- A confident communicator who enjoys working directly with clients and senior stakeholders
- Flexible to travel across the UK and Europe as required by projects
