I have a fantastic contract opportunity for a Site Engineer to work with a leading provider of construction services, covering general and commercial projects across the country.
As a Site Engineer overseeing housing construction across three sites, you're tasked with a diverse range of responsibilities and require a comprehensive skill set. Here's a breakdown of the essential skills and responsibilities for your role:
Essential Skills:
- Housing Construction Knowledge: Understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Drainage Expertise: Proficiency in designing and implementing drainage systems to ensure proper water management on-site.
- Construction Supervision: Ability to oversee and coordinate construction activities, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Groundworks: Experience in preparing sites for construction, including excavation, foundation laying, and site levelling.
- Temporary Works Supervision: Managing temporary structures and supports required during construction phases.
- Roads & Sewers Knowledge: Familiarity with road and sewer infrastructure requirements for housing developments.
- CSCS Card: Possession of a valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card, demonstrating competency in construction-related tasks.
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme): Certification in SSSTS to effectively supervise health and safety practices on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Setting Out: Accurately marking the positions of structures and utilities on-site according to engineering plans.
- Drainage Implementation: Overseeing the installation of drainage systems, ensuring proper functionality and compliance.
- Quality Assurance: Monitoring construction processes to maintain quality standards and compliance with regulations.
- Health & Safety: Enforcing health and safety protocols to create a safe working environment for all personnel on-site.
- Supervising Crew: Leading and managing construction crews, assigning tasks, and providing guidance as needed.
- Cost Estimates: Estimating project costs, including materials, labour, and equipment, and monitoring expenses to ensure budget adherence.
- Communication: Liaising with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and address any issues that arise.
With these skills and responsibilities, you'll play a crucial role in the successful completion of housing construction projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.

- 6 months, with possible extension
- Sites based in Darlington.
