We are partnered with a globally recognised contractor specialising in mission critical infrastructure seeking experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors to join their commercial team delivering hyperscale data centre projects in Denmark.
These positions sit within a major hyperscale data centre programme and offer the opportunity to work on one of Europe’s fastest growing sectors in construction. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take ownership of the commercial management of key work packages while working alongside senior project leadership to ensure successful delivery.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to continue developing their career within data centre construction. The role provides exposure to long term project pipelines across Europe. Due to the nature of the programme, experience on Data Centre projects is required.
Role Overview - Senior Quantity Surveyor
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the full commercial management of projects within a live data centre construction programme in Denmark. Working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and wider construction team, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will ensure projects are delivered successfully while maintaining strong commercial governance, managing risk and maximising commercial returns.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will also take ownership of contractual matters and support the development of junior commercial staff within the project team.
Key Responsibilities - Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Lead the commercial strategy for projects in collaboration with the Managing Quantity Surveyor
- Represent the business in commercial and contractual matters across project delivery
- Manage procurement processes including tender preparation, subcontractor selection and contract placement
- Oversee subcontract packages through procurement, delivery and final account stages
- Prepare and present project forecasts, valuations, cost value reconciliations and financial reports
- Manage variations and compensation events with appropriate supporting documentation
- Prepare and agree final accounts in line with project timelines
- Ensure commercial compliance across construction contracts typically ranging from €5m – €15m packages
- Maintain and update project risk and opportunity registers
- Monitor project changes and implement mitigation strategies where required
- Manage claims and dispute resolution processes where necessary
- Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors
- Provide guidance on measurement, reporting and commercial procedures
- Support performance reviews and development planning for commercial staff
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the commercial team
- Ensure accurate commercial reporting aligned with project valuation procedures
- Maintain oversight of cost value reconciliations and financial performance
- Support pre-construction teams with commercial input during tender stages
- Provide commercial performance updates to senior management
- Interpret and apply contract conditions including NEC and JCT forms of contract
- Draft contractual correspondence and commercial reports for clients and stakeholders
- Manage complex subcontract agreements including bonds, warranties and guarantees
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
Requirements - Essential
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of contract administration, risk management and dispute resolution
- Experience delivering projects within complex or technically demanding construction environments
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to influence project teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Training or experience in commercial management, leadership and risk management
- EU Passport required
Desirable
- Chartered membership with RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional body
- Experience delivering data centre or mission critical infrastructure projects
- Experience working within Tier 1 or international contractors
- Ongoing CPD in construction law, commercial management and industry best practice
