Senior Mechanical Engineer

An opportunity to join DB ESG, a UK leading rolling stock consultancy who are pioneers in providing innovative, future-proof and collaborative engineering solutions to the UK rolling stock market. Providing a comprehensive portfolio of rolling stock services that aid in addressing the challenges that come with an ever-evolving industry.

Following several project wins, there is a requirement for additional Consultant Engineering specialists to support a wide variety of clients across the rolling stock industry. With a history of investing in their people and promoting from within, this business is open to a variety of candidate seniority levels, and their highly competent engineering team will be on hand to support those who are willing to expand their scope of expertise.

The candidate will be a highly flexible individual, who is happy to work in diverse engineering areas, getting involved with a wide range of technical challenges including system specification and design, project management, audits, fault finding, problem solving, new technology R&D, overseas support, and will forge relationships with clients from around the world. This position would be ideal for someone looking for a more varied position with the autonomy to find out information and come up with their own solutions.

Key responsibilities for this Senior Mechanical Engineer:

- Leading the design of new components and/or installation of new components to existing rail vehicles
- Assessing new designs and components for compliance to railway safety standards
- Optimising maintenance and overhaul of train fleets, including the installation and configuration of Remote Condition Monitoring hardware and software
- Assisting customers in change management -introduction of new systems and processes
- Performing vehicle test campaigns, installing and operating specialist test equipment
- Introducing green technologies into UK Rail

Experience required for this Senior Mechanical Engineer role:

- Five to ten years' experience in Railway Engineering or other applicable industry
- Degree Qualified -preferably Masters Level, in Engineering or other STEM subject
- Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership
- Proven report writing capabilities with high quality written communication skills
- Experience in preparing competitive tender proposals
- Project Engineering experience

- RAMS Analysis
- Expertise in Material properties (corrosion, painting and coatings, adhesives, composites)
- Diesel Engines & Exhausts, and Low Carbonisation Technologies
- Welding Engineering
- Brakes Engineering
- Pneumatics
