About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing specialist construction contractor delivering refurbishment, restoration and installation projects across the commercial, education, healthcare and public sectors.
Working closely with a Divisional Director and operational teams, you will take responsibility for the full commercial and financial management of multiple contracts from tender stage through to final account. Projects include new-build, refurbishment and heritage works across sites throughout the UK.
This role offers a mix of office, site and home working alongside flexible hours, providing autonomy and work-life balance while remaining fully engaged with project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Preparing and contributing to tender cost plans and project handovers

Reviewing, interpreting and negotiating contract terms (JCT/NEC)

Managing the day-to-day commercial and financial aspects of multiple contracts

Pricing variations and preparing payment applications

Compiling and submitting monthly valuations in line with contractual timescales

Procuring subcontractors, negotiating packages and placing orders

Managing subcontractor accounts, variations and final accounts

Monitoring budgets, cost control and forecasting cash flow

Identifying and managing commercial and contractual risks

Conducting regular site visits to assess progress and ensure accurate valuations

Liaising with clients, architects, engineers and site teams to maintain strong working relationships

Maintaining accurate financial records, reports and documentation

Supporting programme delivery, resourcing and overall contract performance
Requirements
Essential:
-
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role within construction
-
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT and/or NEC
-
Experience managing subcontractor procurement and accounts

Ability to prepare cost reports, forecasts and cash flows

Excellent numerical, negotiation and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities

Well organised with the ability to manage multiple projects

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
-
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline

Professional membership or working towards RICS, CIOB or similar

Experience within refurbishment or specialist subcontractor environments

CSCS or relevant health and safety training
