Principal Civil Engineer - Data Centres
Open to applicants in London, Basingstoke, Birmingham, and Bristol
We are partnered with a global engineering and infrastructure consultancy seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join its growing Data Centre team. This is a senior technical leadership role supporting hyperscale and colocation developments across the UK and EMEA, and is a great opportunity for an experienced Principal Engineer to transition into the Data Centre sector, for those with transferable experience from large-scale industrial, energy or complex development projects encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities - Principal Civil Engineer - Data Centres
- Provide strategic civil engineering leadership across data centre projects
- Lead, review and approve infrastructure designs
- Oversee site development packages including: Earthworks and levels strategies, Surface and foul drainage design, Highways and access arrangements, Utility coordination and external works, compliance with regulatory and approval processes
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including structural, MEP, geotechnical, environmental and project management functions
- Support client engagement and technical discussions
- Mentor and develop junior engineers within the team
Experience required - Principal Civil Engineer - Data Centres
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) preferred
- Experience operating at Principal / Design Lead level
- Understanding of planning, highways, drainage and utility approval processes
- Experience delivering large scale infrastructure or mission critical projects
- Comfortable operating as technical authority within multidisciplinary environments
- Experience working within BIM-led delivery environments
- Experience in complex infrastructure, industrial or major development backgrounds
