Managing Quantity Surveyor required for a leading civil engineering contractor.
Our client is a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering complex infrastructure and construction projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function on key projects, based in Pontefract, working on a hybrid basis across site, office and home.
This is a senior leadership role, responsible for overseeing commercial delivery, managing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors, and working closely with senior operational and commercial stakeholders to drive financial performance across projects and frameworks.
Experience Required:

Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or construction

Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

Demonstrable experience leading commercial teams (QSs & AQSs)

Strong financial, contractual and cost control expertise

Experience managing projects from tender stage through to final account

Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and negotiation skills

High levels of professionalism, integrity and commercial awareness
Duties include:

Leading the end-to-end commercial management of multiple projects or frameworks

Overseeing and reviewing project budgets, forecasts and cost estimates

Producing and reviewing monthly CVRs, ensuring accurate cost and value reporting

Managing and approving compensation events, variations and commercial claims

Implementing robust cost control, risk management and value engineering strategies

Ensuring effective contract administration in line with NEC requirements

Acting as the senior commercial interface with clients and key stakeholders

Supporting operational teams to achieve project cash flow and margin targets

Leading, mentoring and developing Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors

Contributing to commercial strategy, continuous improvement and best practice
