Location: Kirkby in Ashfield
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 Depending on Experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Due to continued project demand and growth within their pre-construction team, they are now looking to bring a Junior Estimator into the business to support tender preparation and project costing.


About the Role

As a Junior Estimator you will join the pre-construction team supporting the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions for geotechnical and ground engineering projects.

This role is particularly suited to someone currently working on site within the geotechnical or piling sector who is looking to transition into a commercial or estimating position. You will work closely with experienced estimators, engineers and project managers to develop an understanding of pricing, tender strategy and project delivery requirements.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of projects and develop a strong understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of ground engineering schemes.


The key requirements for this Junior Estimator role are:

- Assist with the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions
- Review drawings, specifications and ground investigation reports
- Support the pricing of geotechnical and piling solutions
- Liaise with engineers, suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
- Assist with the preparation of bills of quantities and tender documentation
- Support bid reviews and internal tender meetings
- Contribute to value engineering and alternative design proposals
- Maintain accurate cost records and tender information
- Support the estimating team with project handover to delivery teams


Experience required for this Junior Estimator role are:

- 3 to 4 years experience working within the geotechnical, piling or ground engineering sector
- Background working on site within civil engineering or ground engineering projects
- Good understanding of construction methods within foundations or geotechnical works
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn estimating and commercial processes


Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Junior Estimator role are:

- Degree or qualification in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Construction Management
- Exposure to tendering or project costing processes
- Experience reviewing ground investigation reports
- Knowledge of piling, foundations or ground improvement techniques
