Intermediate-Senior Structural Engineer

Our client is looking for a dynamic Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer to join their ever-growing team. You will have the opportunity to work on commercial, industrial and residential building projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer plays an integral role in the company by working on multiple projects at once, with numerous stakeholders. You'll have a chance to exercise your time management skills, along with your communication and people skills.

Your day to day:

Design and analyze structures or structural components
Review architectural drawings
Review structural drawings produced by designers for building code conformance, provide comments or markups
Review shop drawings to ensure trades have understood the design intent
Visit worksites to ensure contractors are constructing as per the design
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum 5-10 years of relevant work experience in structural consulting and in good standing with the PEO;
Extensive knowledge of relevant structural material design standards (concrete, steel, masonry and wood) and Part 4 of the Ontario Building Code;
Experienced with structural finite element analysis and design software for a variety of structural materials and systems (preferably SAFI, S-Frame, SPSlab, Woodworks, Excel or equivalent etc.);
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, structural design skills and be able to thrive in a team environment;
Ability and desire to mentor junior staff, EIT's and designers;
Working knowledge of architectural design and construction of buildings;
Working knowledge of the National and Ontario Building Codes;
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, coordinate with the other team members (both internal and external);
Proficient with Microsoft Office;
Excellent time-management skills and an ability to work under pressure;
A self-starter and a team player with critical thinking skills who can bring fresh ideas for projects;
Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines working on the same projects; and
