About the Role
As a Project Manager, you will take technical and delivery responsibility for HV cable and HV plant packages on National Grid transmission projects.
You will act as the technical lead for HV works, managing subcontractors, design coordination and programme delivery across complex 132kV, 275kV and 400kV schemes.
This is a senior role combining design oversight, subcontractor management, commercial awareness and programme control. You will work closely with the Project Director and Engineering Manager to ensure works are delivered safely, compliantly and to programme.

The key requirements for this Project Manager - High Voltage Systems role are:
- Lead and manage HV cable and HV plant subcontractors
- Oversee design coordination and manage designer deliverables
- Ensure compliance with National Grid specifications and transmission procedures
- Review and challenge design submissions to ensure quality and programme alignment
- Manage technical queries and design workshops
- Coordinate BIM and document control requirements
- Support temporary works coordination and design brief preparation
- Manage subcontractor packages, scopes and procurement activities
- Review and agree subcontractor valuations and variations alongside commercial teams
- Manage cost forecasting and programme reporting
- Oversee construction delivery ensuring specification and safety compliance
- Maintain integrated management plans and construction phase documentation
- Actively manage project risks and opportunities
- Lead HV subcontractors and suppliers on site
- Contribute to project reporting, progress updates and handover documentation

Experience required for this Project Manager - High Voltage Systems role are:
- Minimum 10 years' experience delivering high voltage projects as a contractor
- Previous experience on National Grid transmission projects
- Experience delivering 132kV, 275kV or 400kV circuits
- Strong understanding of National Grid technical specifications and procedures
- Experience managing both construction and design elements
- Proven ability to manage subcontractor packages and commercial interfaces
- Knowledge of CDM requirements and Principal Contractor duties
- SMSTS qualified
- National Grid Competent Person
- Full UK driving licence
