I am looking for a highly skilled Multidisciplinary Design Manager with strong experience delivery projects at Airports, across design and construction delivery for large-scale infrastructure projects.
You will be responsible for leading the design process across multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring that design outputs align with client requirements, regulatory standards, and construction methodologies.
Within the Airport the client has multiple frameworks, ranging from internal ops such as - retail/fit out/baggage etc. And external, such as - runways/airfield/carparks etc.
The successful Design Manager, should have experience on large scale Airport/Aviation projects, and be a UK resident.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end design process across civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and specialist disciplines.
- Coordinate design interfaces between packages, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Ensure designs are buildable, cost-effective, and compliant with all relevant regulations and airport-specific standards.
- Lead design reviews, value engineering workshops, and risk assessments.
- Provide technical leadership and challenge to design teams to ensure innovation and efficiency.
- Maintain close integration between design and construction teams to support smooth delivery.
- Oversee change control processes and manage design-related issues promptly.
- Report design progress, risks, and issues to the Project Director and senior stakeholders.
About You
- Alot of experience as a Design Manager (or Senior Design Coordinator) on large, complex infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record working in both design consultancy and on-site construction environments.
- Strong multidis skills - able to integrate civils, structures, MEP, and architectural packages.
- Experience in airport projects or other highly regulated environments (rail, nuclear, defence) is highly advantageous.
- Strong working knowledge of BIM processes and digital design tools.
- Relevant degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management.
This is a permanent role, with a negotiable salary, ranging from £65,000 - £90,000 DOE plus package.
Start date - between September and October (notices will be considered)
Interviews are 2 stages, 1 via Teams and 2nd may be f2f
This role is London based, and will require the candidate to be working in on site offices TUES WEDS THURS, with MON FRI home working.
The position will be to work for a consultancy who will second the candidate.
