Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire. The name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through the city and is known as a historic part of Yorkshire. Sheffield had a reported population of 500,000 in 2019, which made it the 3rd most populous district in England. The 21st century has seen extensive redevelopment in Sheffield.

Sheffield’s economy has experienced steady growth averaging around 5% annually, greater than that of the broader region of Yorkshire and the Humber. Sheffield has seen numerous large scale construction projects over the past couple of years and has multiple large constructions projects in the pipeline, such as:

New hotel at Sheffield Velocity Tower

This seven-storey scheme will see a 126-bed Ibis Budget hotel delivered, along with ancillary accommodation and a restaurant at ground level floor, the Construction Enquirer reports. The site will form part of the larger Velocity Tower development, a completed 22-storey landmark residential apartment building.

New Era Square

New Era Square, at the corner of St. Mary’s Gate and Bramall Lane, is a residential and leisure development costing in the region of £66m. This large development is the creation of Jerry Cheung, a UK-Chinese businessman, local property developer, restaurant owner, and chair of the Sheffield Chinese Community Centre.
