Biggest Construction Projects in Taiwan

Taiwan is currently undertaking several significant construction projects aimed at enhancing its infrastructure and energy capabilities. Here are some of the most notable:

Greater Changhua Offshore Wind Farms

Located off the coast of Changhua County, this series of offshore wind farms is being developed by Ørsted. The project comprises four wind farms—Changhua 1, 2A, 2B, and 4—with a combined capacity of 2.4 GW. Construction began in November 2019, and as of April 2024, Changhua 1 and 2A are operational and fully connected to the grid, making it the largest offshore wind project in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region.

Fengmiao I Offshore Wind Project

This 495 MW offshore wind project, situated off the coast of Taichung, marks Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' third venture in Taiwan. The project has reached financial close and is notable for being supported by a portfolio of corporate offtakers. It will involve both international and local suppliers, including Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas, which will supply 33 units of its latest 15 MW turbines.

Xizhi–Donghu Mass Rapid Transit Line

Awarded to a consortium led by Malaysian construction firm Gamuda, this project involves the development of a 5.78 km-long railway track connecting Xizhi district with other areas in New Taipei and Taipei City. Valued at approximately $995 million, the project is expected to enhance public transportation and is slated for completion over a seven-year period
