Transportation Design Engineer

Our client is currently looking for a Transportation Design Engineer to join their growing team in the GTA

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of transportation planning and environmental assessments, transportation engineering and design and traffic engineering and safety.
Reporting directly to the Manager, Transportation & Infrastructure, the successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects and develop their skillset within the field of transportation including, but not limited to: transportation planning and traffic engineering in support of municipal class environmental assessments; transportation engineering and design; traffic engineering assessments and intersection operational analyses; in-service road safety reviews and/or roadside safety assessments; geometric design, signage, and pavement marking assessments and traffic management planning and design. The successful candidate will provide support on projects with public and private sector clients, while working alongside Engineers, Technologists, Technicians, and support staff.

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree (Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Applied Science) in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Five years' experience in the field of transportation
- Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is considered an asset
- Working knowledge and experience utilizing traffic engineering software such as: Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, SimTraffic, Vissim, EMME, and Visum are assets
- Working knowledge and experience utilizing drafting and design software such as: AutoCAD, Civil3D, and AutoTURN
- Applied skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data management systems such as Microsoft Access or SQL is considered an asset
- Experience in cost estimating, contract document preparation, contract administration, and construction inspection is considered an asset
- Experience on projects specifically with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario is considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- MTO Experience would be an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Skilled at analyzing and solving problems with and without supervision
- Fosters a positive attitude with commitment to working as part of a team
- Class G License and full-time access to your own vehicle
