Job Description

We are supporting a rail client seeking an experienced Test & Commissioning Engineer/Fleet Support Engineer to join their team on a Outside IR35 contract. This role combines hands-on engineering with team leadership responsibilities and is fully site-based in Dereham.

Role Overview:
You will lead and coordinate testing and commissioning activities on rolling stock projects, managing a team of engineers while ensuring tasks, safety requirements, and project costs are controlled and delivered to high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of engineers

  • Carry out verification & validation across rolling stock systems

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical faults on fleet

  • Asset management and engineering documentation

  • Fault finding and component recovery

  • Work on systems including inverter sockets, fire suppressors, train buttons, and other electrical/mechanical components

  • Ensure compliance, reporting accuracy, and safety across all activities

✔️ Requirements:

  • Strong background in rolling stock / fleet engineering

  • Proven test & commissioning experience

  • Leadership capability – managing engineers and task allocation

  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and fault-finding skills

  • Experience working on rolling stock components and systems

  • HST experience strongly preferred

  • PTS certification essential

  • Ability to work full-time on site (5 days per week) in Dereham, Norfolk

Location: Dereham, Norfolk
Contract: Outside IR35
Day Rate: £425–£525 per day (depending on experience)
⏳ Duration: Initial 4–6 month contract, with potential of extension
