Team Lead – Telecommunications Planning / ETCS (Rail Infrastructure)
Locations: Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt am Main, Düsseldorf, or Karlsruhe

We are seeking a Team Lead in the field of telecommunications (TK/ÜT) and ETCS (TK) to manage rail infrastructure projects focused on sustainable transport solutions.


Your Role

In this leadership position, you will oversee a team responsible for planning and implementing telecom systems across a variety of rail-related projects. Your contributions will help shape the future of sustainable mobility.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide both technical and personnel leadership to the telecom planning team

  • Manage planning efforts for new builds, upgrades, and expansions of TK/ÜT systems, including components of ETCS and digital signaling systems

  • Supervise modernization of telecom infrastructure (fiber optics, GSM-R, DBMAS, etc.)

  • Serve as liaison with clients, stakeholders, and other project contributors

  • Coordinate efforts with safety and control technology teams and other disciplines

  • Ensure planning deliverables meet quality standards and regulatory compliance

  • Guide staff through technical site assessments and evaluations

  • Lead project management efforts internally, focusing on deadlines, budgets, and team capacity

  • Review external plans for quality, schedule alignment, and cost control

  • Represent the team’s work and progress in internal and client-facing meetings

You’ll join a specialized transport division focused on advancing rail solutions through expert-led project delivery. The team is growing and brings together insights from international infrastructure projects—including landmark tunnel and transit developments—to build reliable, future-ready transport systems.


Your Profile

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical grounding with the ability to lead and inspire a team.

Ideal qualifications:

  • University degree in electrical, railway, or transport engineering

  • Proven experience with telecom systems in rail environments

  • Familiarity with GSM-R, fiber optics, ETCS, DBMAS, and related technologies

  • Previous leadership experience, or a strong interest in people and project management

  • Solid knowledge of HOAI, VOB, and DB-specific technical guidelines

  • Competence in preparing bids and awarding planning services

  • Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, iTwo, and MS Office

  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen

  • Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented work style

  • Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
