Standards & Technical Engineer (Rail Vehicle Maintenance & Engineering)

Location: Derby

Summary

A leading owner and asset manager of passenger and freight rolling stock are looking for an experienced Standards & Technical Engineer to join their Derby office

Standards & Technical Engineer Responsibilities

- Leading engineering/technical/safety projects delivered within the Safety, Standards & Environment Team
- Lead the resolution of engineering/technical queries with maintenance documentation for rail vehicles, including authoring documentation where required
- Represent the business and/or rail vehicle owners at cross-industry forums/events
- Provide engineering, technical and safety management support to Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre as required
- Review relevant changes in legislation and implement necessary changes to ensure ongoing compliance and maintain best practice
- Support delivery of continuous improvements to processes, including ownership of Safety, Standards & Environment
- Maintain and develop the engineering competency management system

Standards & Technical Engineer Requirements

- A Minimum of five years' experience working in an engineering/standards role within the rail industry.
- Familiar with rail vehicle engineering activities, production/approval of technical documentation and implementing and maintaining ISO 9001/14001/45001 management systems.
- Experience of managing technical/engineering projects
- Knowledge of Rail vehicle maintenance & engineering principals , UK railway industry standards, legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- An understanding of Quality, Safety & Environmental management systems

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or technical subject (essential)
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (Essential)
- Project management qualification (APM Fundamentals, MSP or equivalent) (Desirable)
- ISO 9001/14001/45001 Internal Auditor (Desirable)
- IOSH or NEBOSH General Certificate (Desirable)

Salary: £50,000 - £58,000 dependant on experience plus package including:
