Our client, a leading general contractor out of the GTA, is seeking an experienced and versatile Site Superintendent with a strong background in diverse ICI construction projects to join their growing team. As a Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. Your exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills will be instrumental in managing diverse teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to successfully deliver complex construction projects.
Responsibilities:
On-Site Construction Management:
Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, including excavation, formwork, concrete pouring, steel erection, and finishing work.
Lead and manage a diverse workforce, including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians, promoting collaboration, productivity, and adherence to safety protocols.
Monitor and enforce strict adherence to quality standards, building codes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Project Planning and Execution:
Collaborate with the project management team to develop detailed construction plans, schedules, and logistics, incorporating critical path analysis, work breakdown structures, and resource allocation.
Coordinate and manage the delivery of construction materials, equipment, and resources to ensure efficient project execution.
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement proactive measures to mitigate delays and obstacles, such as value engineering or change order management.
Communication Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, maintaining strong relationships and managing expectations.
Conduct regular site meetings to provide updates on project status, address concerns, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Foster effective communication channels to ensure stakeholders are informed of construction progress, changes, and milestones, such as coordination drawings or shop drawings.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on the construction site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, policies, and best practices, such as fall protection, personal protective equipment (PPE), and excavation safety.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, site logs, safety records, and progress reports.
Prepare and submit regular reports on project status, productivity, and safety performance to the project management team and stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation of change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), and other project-related documentation, such as submittals or closeout documents.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent in the ICI construction sector, with a diverse project portfolio encompassing concrete structures, steel buildings, MEP installations, and interior fit outs.
In-depth knowledge of construction methods, techniques, materials, and equipment across various ICI sectors, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, mechanical systems, and architectural finishes.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead diverse teams and subcontractors.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and stakeholder management, including subcontractor coordination and client relations.
Thorough understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards
