Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

Senior Quantity Surveyor required for a specialist civil engineering subcontractor.

Our client is a well-established subcontractor operating across the Yorkshire and East Midlands regions, delivering civil engineering packages for major Tier 1 contractors. Their expertise includes enabling works, ground stabilisation, temporary works, and large-scale earthworks.

They are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a portfolio of 2–3 medium-sized projects at any one time, with the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

You’ll work primarily from home, with site visits 2–3 days per week across Yorkshire and the East Midlands, and occasional visits to the head office in Derby (1–2 times per month).

Experience Required:

  • Strong background in civil engineering projects (enabling works, groundworks, earthworks, stabilisation or similar)

  • NEC contract experience (essential)

  • Background with a main contractor or subcontractor

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and reporting skills

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent (desirable)

  • Open to experienced Quantity Surveyors looking to step up

Duties include:

  • Commercial management of 2–3 projects concurrently

  • Managing subcontractor accounts and payments

  • Preparation and submission of valuations and variations

  • Working with the operations team to ensure cost-effective project delivery

  • Client and stakeholder liaison, ensuring strong working relationships

  • Contract administration under NEC

  • Cost reporting and forecasting to senior management
