Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Bristol (office-based with flexibility, covering sites within 1 hour of Bristol)
Salary: £70,000 (negotiable, based on current earnings) + Car/Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established residential developer in their Bristol office. Working within a close-knit commercial team, this is a chance to oversee multiple live projects across the South West while playing a key role in both cost control and project delivery.

The role of Senior Quantity Surveyor will see you manage the financial and contractual aspects of housing developments from start to finish—ensuring projects run on budget, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the commercial function on multiple residential projects in the Bristol region

  • Preparing budgets, cost forecasts, valuations, and reports

  • Procuring subcontractors, negotiating terms, and managing payments

  • Advising on design and project changes with cost implications

  • Managing variations, valuations, and final accounts

  • Supporting, mentoring, and developing assistant/junior surveyors

  • Working collaboratively with technical, land, and construction teams


What We’re Looking For

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within residential construction

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and contracts

  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, and communication skills

  • RICS/CIOB membership (or working towards it) desirable
