Location:          Leicestershire
Company:         Building / Major Projects
Salary:              £85,000 - £95,000 + car allowance and excellent benefits package

The Opportunity..

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planner to join a leading national contractor delivering large-scale, complex construction projects.

This role will see you take ownership of programme strategy from pre-construction through to completion, influencing methodology, driving programme certainty and providing clear direction to project teams. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual commitments. You’ll also have the opportunity to shape planning best practice across the business and support the development of junior planners.

The Role..

As Senior Planner you will:

  • Lead the development and management of detailed construction programmes across complex schemes.
  • Work closely with Project and Operations teams to establish the most efficient and deliverable construction methodologies.
  • Support bid submissions with robust, realistic and competitive programmes.
  • Act as the programme lead, identifying critical path activities, risks and opportunities.
  • Provide clear, insightful reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Drive mitigation strategies where delays or risks are identified.
  • Coordinate programme outputs with 4D BIM modelling where applicable.
  • Chair and contribute to planning and coordination meetings.
  • Mentor and oversee junior planning team members.

Key Requirements..

  • Proven experience in a Senior Planning or Planning Manager role on major construction projects (building sector).
  • Knowledge NEC form of contract.
  • Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, methodology and buildability.
  • Solid knowledge of construction contracts and commercial implications.
  • Advanced Excel capability (including pivot tables and data analysis).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both site teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience contributing to 4D BIM planning (desirable).
