Senior Contract Manager

Job Description

We are looking for support in the field of Contract Manager based in Berlin. 


Your tasks
As a member of the project team, you will advise the project management with specific support in commercial and contractual matters. This includes the following activities:

  • You direct or assist in the preparation and creation of important contractual correspondence with customers, partners and suppliers that may imply the contract
  • Advancing contract management activities related to key/critical suppliers and subcontractors, including defending and building claims to protect Finterests, rights, claims and remedies through early identification and mitigation of risks related to suppliers/subcontractors.
  • You take part in commercial, contractual and other relevant meetings/negotiations with customers, consortium partners and suppliers and are the contact person for your counterpart on the customer side.
  • You ensure that the project team is aware of the "scope of delivery and services" and all the obligations entered into from the customer contract and regularly check the status.
  • You prepare changes to the subject matter of the contract, negotiate them and, together with the specialist departments, check whether these are feasible and have been fully documented between the contracting parties and track their implementation commercially and contractually. 
  • You actively participate in project-specific risk and claim reviews
  • They register all contractual matters and events that could have an impact on financial, technical or deadline agreements and record them in a special claim file
  • They actively support the determination of possible existing contractual problems and risks and contribute to achieving clarification
  • They support the creation and/or defense of possible legal claims against or from contractual partners. Determining the strategy together with the legal department and the project management / customer director is one of your tasks. You support and maintain constant contact with external lawyers and are a competent mediator between project management, project team and the lawyers. You are used to providing lawyers with the necessary information and facts from the projects and to research them competently. 
  • You support purchasing in the management and enforcement of claims against customers.

your qualification

In terms of content, as an experienced all-rounder, you are familiar with the entire range of classic contract management and, in addition to methodical know-how and enjoyment of implementation, you have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Successfully completed business law or legal studies or technical studies, possibly industrial engineering, or another relevant educational background, combined with several years of relevant professional experience, if possible in international claim/contract management and/or the preparation of offers/supplements, especially in project business or in the commercial project management, possibly also in purchasing 
  • Very good knowledge of contract law and contract drafting 
  • Precise written and oral expression and presentation skills 
  • Strong negotiation skills, analytical skills, result orientation
  • High assertiveness, communication and team skills
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and good orientation skills in foreign cultures
  • Business fluent German and English skills, knowledge of French an advantage
  • Very good MS Office knowledge
  • Traveling
