Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Summary

The executive body of the North East Combined Authority owning and operating the Tyne and Wear Metro is looking to hire a Security Manager to  provide expertise and guidance in relation to all security matters, to manage risk and ensure the protection of company assets, including reducing crime and antisocial behaviour and improving safety and security standards for our customers, employees and members of the public.

As Security Manager reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Security and Environment, to support the development and implementation of Nexus' security management system whilst working closely with key stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation, to drive performance across policy, process, and delivery.

Security Manager Responsibilities

  • Acting as a subject matter expert on security matters to effectively manage risks.
  • Leading on the development and ongoing management of the ' Security Management System (SeMS).
  • Ensuring compliance of the Light Rail Security Programme (LRSP) regulations and other regulatory and best practice obligations.
  • Supporting the delivery of security objectives and ongoing business needs through effective policies, processes and report papers as required.
  • Providing leadership and support to the  Security Team and function.
  • Developing initiatives to improve the perceptions of safety and security of employees, customers and members of the public.
  • Managing and improving the effectiveness of service contracts across policing, private security, and technical support, to ensure operational and cost effectiveness.
  • To act as the Nominated Security Contact for the Department for Transport and other national agencies (NSVS CTC Security Clearance required).
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies and manage resource deployment plans to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime across the business.
  • Managing the production of data and analysis, and reports, to inform decisions and intelligence-led action plans.
  • Leading the investigation of security incidents as necessary ensuring that actions are taken to reduce the likelihood and/or impact of recurrence Contributing towards the development and delivery of the QHSSE Strategy to ensure' QHSSE objectives are met.
  • Managing the CCTV operation and associated legislation and codes of practice.
  • Managing the sectional budget ensuring all activities are conducted within its limit.

Security Manager Criteria

  • Educated to degree or equivalent level, or achievement of recognised academic security qualifications and training to practitioner/management level.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience of managing security at a senior level.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of relevant regulatory compliance frameworks, or implementation and use of standards for effective Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of legislative frameworks for tackling terrorism, antisocial behaviour and other crime.
  • Current holder or ability to obtain National Security Vetting Service security clearance to minimum CTC level.
  • Good communication, leadership, interpersonal skills and an effective team player.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Experience of successful management of key service contracts.        
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a fast moving and changing environment.

Salary: between £45,000 and £68,000 dependant on level of experience plus package including

  • 36 hour work week.
  • Hybrid Working  (60% of your working week in the office and the rest at home)
