Scheme Project Manager

An opportunity for a Scheme Project Manager (SPM) to join a high-profile rail infrastructure programme focused on the Huddersfield Station segment of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU).

You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team on behalf of Network Rail, ensuring effective management of project scope, cost, time, and quality through the early stages of development and into delivery.

The key requirements for this Scheme Project Manager role are:

  • Lead the development and delivery of Huddersfield Station works through key stages of the GRIP/PACE lifecycle.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including civil, M&E, architectural, and systems engineering to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Manage project scope, risk, programme, and cost, ensuring alignment with client expectations and TRU objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, governance, and assurance requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including Network Rail, contractors, design teams, and local authorities.
  • Chair and participate in regular programme reviews, progress meetings, and risk workshops.
  • Proactively identify delivery challenges and drive mitigation strategies in collaboration with the delivery and engineering teams.
  • Support integration of Huddersfield Station works within the wider TRU corridor programme.

Experience required for this Scheme Project Manager role are:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in project management within UK rail infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable experience managing or supporting projects within the Network Rail environment.
  • Experience working on the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) or similar major enhancement projects is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of project delivery frameworks such as GRIP and/or PACE.
  • Strong track record in managing or coordinating station upgrade or enhancement schemes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and reporting capabilities.
  • Knowledge of applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in a rail context.
  • APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management qualification.
