Risk Manager - International Road Projects
Summary
A leading infrastructure and facility management company in Qatar have been awarded a £4billion 10-year framework contract for the operation and maintenance of road networks across Qatar and are seeking an experienced Risk Manager with experience in major road/highway projects internationally
Under this framework, the business has received the main Work Order for the operation and maintenance of the road network of Qatar North.
The contract covers pavement works, pavement markings, roadside safety features, directional signage, civil structures, streetlighting, ITS end devices, and other road-related assets.
Risk Manager Role Purpose:
To lead and oversee risk management across road and infrastructure maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and proactive mitigation of project, operational, and contractual risks.
Key Responsibilities for the Risk Manager Role
- Develop and implement enterprise/project-level risk management frameworks.
- Identify, assess, and monitor technical, financial, contractual, and operational risks.
- Advise senior management on risk mitigation strategies and contingency planning.
- Conduct regular risk workshops and reporting for stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure alignment with ISO 31000 and international risk management practices.
Requirements for the Risk Manager Role
- 10+ years' experience in risk management, with at least 5 years in major road/highway projects internationally (outside MENA).
- Experience in projects of similar size and nature, ideally under performance-based contracts.
- Background in infrastructure / civil engineering.
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and road asset maintenance frameworks.
- Professional certification (IRM, PMI-RMP, or equivalent) preferred.
- A relevant university degrees from WHED-recognized institutions
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
