About the Company

Our client is a specialist contractor within the structural refurbishment sector, delivering bridge repair and maintenance projects across the South West and Midlands.

With a strong portfolio of secured works and multiple live bridge refurbishment schemes, the business is continuing to grow and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support ongoing delivery across key locations including Bristol and Birmingham.

The company operates in a practical, delivery-focused environment, offering individuals the opportunity to take real ownership of projects while working alongside experienced operational teams.


About the Role

As Project Manager, you will oversee the delivery of multiple bridge refurbishment projects across the South West, with works typically focused on concrete repairs, protective coatings, and structural maintenance.

This is a hands-on role requiring close involvement with site teams and day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for managing projects from planning through to completion, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.

Typical works include:

  • Concrete repairs and structural patching
  • Painting and protective coatings
  • Steel beam repairs and maintenance
  • Inspection and remediation of timber defects (including wood rot)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bridge refurbishment projects from inception through to completion
  • Oversee site teams, subcontractors, and supervisors on a daily basis
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
  • Monitor programme, quality, and cost performance
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Identify and manage risks, implementing effective solutions
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Lead and motivate teams across all levels of the business

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering or structural refurbishment
  • Strong experience in bridge refurbishment or similar infrastructure projects
  • Background in concrete repairs, coatings, or structural maintenance
  • Experience managing site teams and subcontractors
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and influence people at all levels
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities

Package & Benefits

  • Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience)
