Offshore Surveyor

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Offshore Surveyor to join a well established contractor working in the Avonmouth area on a major project (Hinckley Point C)
Our client is looking for a Offshore Surveyor to join an established team and are seeking a skilled offshore Surveyor to provide critical surveying support for the offshore installation of concrete blocks forming the base of a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) launch chamber for an outfall tunnel. The surveyor will play a key role in ensuring dimensional accuracy, alignment, and quality control for the block installation, working closely with both onshore and offshore teams.

Package offered for this Offshore Surveyor role:
· £350-400 day based on experience, potentially negotiable depending on experience
· Outside IR35
· An initial 5 month contract


Key responsibilities for this Offshore Surveyor role:
- Provide offshore survey control and establish precise reference points for offshore operations.
- Perform setting-out, alignment checks, and as-built surveys of installed concrete blocks.
- Liaise with marine survey teams to integrate land-based survey data with offshore positioning systems.
- Ensure accurate transfer of coordinates, benchmarks, and datums between land and sea operations.
- Manage and process survey data, producing accurate drawings, reports, and digital models for engineering and construction teams.
- Verify tolerances and ensure compliance with project specifications and QA/QC requirements.
- Maintain and calibrate survey instruments and ensure all survey work complies with HSE standards.
- This is a site-based role with potential for extended hours during offshore installation campaigns. Current working pattern will be for 1 surveyor on days 7am-7pm & another on nights 7pm - 7am. Please note that should offshore working be required, working hours may be extended given the lock requirements during vessel transfers.

- Offshore survival and medical certification will be required - GWO or BOSIET with Working at Height & Boat Transfer bolt ons.



Experience required for this Offshore Surveyor role:
- Degree or Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in civil/marine infrastructure projects, preferably involving offshore or nearshore construction.
- Strong knowledge of survey instruments (total station, GNSS, digital level) and associated software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Leica/Trimble software, etc.).
- Experience in interfacing land and marine survey operations is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate them into field survey tasks.
- Excellent data management, reporting, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements in a construction/marine setting.
