Building Services Contractor
Salary: £60,000 + Car Allowance + Package
About the Role
A well-established building services contractor is seeking a Mechanical Services Design Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical building services across both pre-construction and live projects.
This role is suited to an experienced design engineer with a background in mechanical building services, ideally within a contractor or design & build environment.
Project Sectors
- High-rise residential developments
- Purpose-built student accommodation
- Hotels and mixed-use schemes
- You will be involved from early design development through to construction and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and develop mechanical building services designs including HVAC, public health, and above-ground drainage
- Support the Design Manager and wider project teams with technical input and coordination
- Review consultant designs for compliance, buildability, and cost efficiency
- Assist with value engineering and design development
- Coordinate with electrical, architectural, and structural disciplines
- Attend design and technical meetings as required
About You
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- Experience in mechanical building services design
- Contractor or design & build experience preferred (consultancy backgrounds considered)
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and standards
- Experience within residential, student accommodation, or hotel sectors beneficial
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
