Human Factors Consultant (Inc Senior)


Location: Derby, Bristol, London, Manchester, York, Sheffield, Paddington.

An opportunity to join an internationally renowned consultancy tackling projects across all aspects of the railway industry. As part of the Human Factors team, you will have exposure to a wide range of projects, analysing and advising on human performance risk and strategies, and guiding design teams through human-centred design approach.


Key responsibilities for this Human Factors Consultant role:


- Assessing Crossrail station designs to ensure accessibility
- Supporting the design of modern control rooms and traffic management systems to ensure effective supervision and control over automated railway operations.
- Supporting the modernisation of freight cabs with ETCS signalling system
- Researching the practical application of rules governing train horn warnings, to try and reduce track worker and pedestrian facilities on the railway.
- Working closely with clients and stakeholders.

Experience required for this Human Factors Consultant role:


- Experience of human factors within the rail sector
- A relevant degree/master's degree in a subject related to Human Factors/Ergonomics, Psychology, Systems Engineering or similar.
- Experience and knowledge of relevant Ergonomics methodologies and techniques, including task analysis and human error assessment.
- Chartered member status with the CIEHF, or evidence of equivalent experience and competencies to achieve this in the short term.
- At least 5 years' experience ideally, as a Human Factors Advisor.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of mentoring junior consultants/line management.
