About the Role
This Environmental Manager position is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract and will play an important role in shaping and leading the company's carbon reduction journey.
You will take responsibility for environmental governance across the organisation, ensuring compliance with environmental management systems and supporting the delivery of sustainability objectives across operational projects.
The role requires someone who can work independently while engaging with directors, project teams and supply chain partners to drive environmental performance and ensure the business meets its environmental reporting and certification obligations.
The key requirements for this Environmental Manager role are:
- Lead environmental governance and support delivery of the company's carbon reduction strategy
- Engage with directors, clients, project managers and supply chain partners on environmental matters
- Manage and maintain the ISO 14001 environmental management system
- Oversee PAS 2080 carbon management infrastructure processes
- Prepare and manage carbon reporting requirements including SECR and Achilles Carbon Reduce
- Monitor environmental performance and produce reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Develop carbon reduction initiatives across operations and supply chain activities
- Produce Construction Environmental Management Plans for projects where acting as Principal Contractor
- Provide environmental guidance and compliance support to site teams
- Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions
- Support continual improvement across environmental and sustainability practices
Experience required for this Environmental Manager role are:
- Minimum 3 years experience in an environmental management or sustainability role
- Experience with carbon reporting frameworks and environmental compliance systems
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management systems
- Experience supporting environmental governance within construction or infrastructure environments
- Strong organisational and reporting skills with the ability to manage multiple compliance deadlines
- Ability to work independently while engaging with internal and external stakeholders
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Environmental Manager role are:
- Experience with PAS 2080 carbon management
- Knowledge of infrastructure or civil engineering projects
- Experience preparing Construction Environmental Management Plans
- Environmental incident investigation experience
