About the Company
Our client is delivering a major section of one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes, supporting the development of a new high speed rail network.
Working as part of a major civil engineering joint venture, the organisation brings together international expertise in the design and delivery of complex infrastructure projects. The programme includes large scale earthworks, bridges, tunnels and major highway diversions across a significant section of the new railway.
This project represents one of the most ambitious civil engineering schemes currently being delivered in the UK and offers engineers the opportunity to work on technically challenging infrastructure that will support the country's future transport network.
About the Role
As Engineering Manager you will provide technical leadership and engineering oversight across construction activities within the Aylesbury section of the project.
Working closely with the Construction Director you will ensure engineering processes, design coordination and construction delivery are aligned across both permanent and temporary works. The role is site based and plays a key part in supporting construction teams with technical assurance, engineering coordination and design compliance.
You will also oversee the management of temporary works coordination and ensure design documentation, technical approvals and engineering changes are properly controlled throughout the construction process.
The key requirements for this Engineering Manager role are:
- Provide technical oversight of construction activities across civil engineering works
- Support the Construction Director with engineering leadership across the project area
- Review and approve construction documentation including RAMS and Inspection and Test Plans
- Lead the management and coordination of temporary works across the project
- Manage a team of Temporary Works Coordinators
- Ensure proper coordination between permanent works and temporary works designs
- Provide engineering support to construction teams during delivery
- Review technical queries, non conformance reports and short notice design changes
- Review materials approvals, shop drawings and technical submissions
- Support testing, materials management and technical compliance processes
- Ensure design changes are properly recorded and incorporated into project documentation
- Support technical assurance activities including audits and engineering reviews
- Manage construction support teams including performance monitoring and forecasting
- Contribute to resource planning and budget forecasting for engineering support activities
Experience required for this Engineering Manager role are:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline
- Chartered Civil Engineer or Chartered Structural Engineer
- Extensive experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong background in engineering management or design coordination
- Experience supporting construction delivery teams with technical leadership
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Engineering Manager role are:
- Experience working on rail infrastructure projects
- Experience managing temporary works coordination processes
- Experience working within large joint venture infrastructure programmes
