Development Planner

Job Description

Our client located in the Vaughan area is looking to bring on a development planner to the team, to work on high and low rise development projects in and around the GTA.

The development planner will be responsible for the municipal planning & development of condo town-homes and high-rise residential projects in the Vaughan area from initial conceptualization stage to the start of construction. They’ll be leading internal (Real Estate and Construction) and external stakeholders (Municipal Planners, Land Developers) through various phases of residential development projects Retail. They would be involved in driving municipal permit/zoning approvals.

Key Responsibilities for this Development Planner Role:

  • Provide assistance and initiative to help execute bring to life a variety of low and high rise residential projects.
  • Must coordinate with consultants and municipalities in order to get for getting the required approvals for multiple developments and construction projects.
  • The planner will monitor the status of development application submissions on behalf of the company.
  • The planner will work with municipal agencies to address whatever issues might prevent development applications being completed in a timely manner.
  • The planner will be involved in completing required applications to development approval authorities.
  • Prepare and review consultant proposal requests and responses.
  • Assist with the development of initial concepts for the development.
  • Knowledge of Ontario environmental policies on the residential development side


Qualifications and Skills required for the Development Planner Role:

  • Post secondary education in Urban Planning or relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years experience in planning & development or municipal urban planning with a low / high-rise developer.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently in high-pressure environments.
  • Well organized, detail and goal oriented.
