The Role:
A growing and well-regarded housebuilder is looking to appoint an Engineer to join their Technical team in Sheffield. Working across a range of high-volume, traditionally built housing developments, this role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in residential development, preferably with a housebuilder or engineering consultancy, and a sound understanding of infrastructure and housing layout design. You'll be involved in both office and site-based responsibilities, supporting projects from feasibility through to completion.
Responsibilities of the Development Engineer:
- Assist in preparing and reviewing engineering designs for foundations, roads, sewers, and utilities
- Support the coordination of consultants and technical approvals (S38, S104, S278)
- Liaise with local authorities and utility providers to ensure timely approvals
- Provide technical input across departments and assist with resolving site-based engineering issues
- Help manage the adoption process and support junior members of the team where appropriate
Requirements of the Development Engineer:
- HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Previous experience with a housebuilder or consultancy working on residential schemes
- Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and Section Agreements
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Proficient in AutoCAD (knowledge of Civil 3D or MicroDrainage is a bonus)
