A leading specialist contractor in the maintenance and repair of buildings and civil structures across the UK is seeking a Contracts Manager to join their team to drive projects in the North West of England.

With decades of experience and a strong regional presence, the organisation is known for delivering high-quality services and innovative engineering solutions, with a focus on safety and sustainability.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the delivery of multiple complex projects. It is a senior position within the operational delivery team, ideal for a professional who is passionate about construction and committed to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of multiple contracts, ensuring financial, quality, safety, and environmental targets are met

  • Liaise with estimators during pre-contract planning stages

  • Lead and delegate to site-based engineering and delivery teams

  • Maintain a strong understanding of standard forms of contract and construction legislation

  • Approve and issue contracts and subcontracts

  • Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety and IMS procedures

  • Oversee contract programming, resource planning, and delivery schedules

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors

  • Support the production of quality bids, PQQs, and client presentations

  • Advise on technical, legal, and contractual matters

  • Provide accurate data for monthly contract appraisals and reports

  • Monitor and control contract budgets and financial performance

  • Manage claims, variations, and risk assessments

  • Compile applications for payment and agree final accounts

  • Mentor and coach staff and operatives across multiple project teams

  • Participate in recruitment, performance management, and staff development

  • Assist with marketing, including project photography and press releases

  • Support initiatives to raise the company’s profile in the sector

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or similar role within civil engineering or construction

  • Strong commercial, technical, and contractual knowledge

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Familiarity with current contract forms (e.g., NEC, JCT) and construction law

  • Full UK driving licence
