About the Role
As a Commissioning Technician you will play a key role in testing, commissioning and energising high-voltage equipment across substations, renewable projects and industrial installations.
You will work on HV and LV systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. This is a hands-on role that requires technical skill, attention to detail and the ability to work safely on live systems.

The key requirements for this Commissioning Technician role are:
- Carry out commissioning and testing of HV/LV equipment, including switchgear, transformers, protection relays and associated systems
- Perform secondary injection, primary injection and functional testing in line with project requirements
- Support the energisation of new and existing high-voltage systems, ensuring safety and compliance at all times
- Produce test documentation, commissioning reports and client handover records
- Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers and site teams to deliver successful project outcomes
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental standards
Experience required for this Commissioning Technician role are:
- Proven experience commissioning HV and LV electrical systems
- Knowledge of protection schemes, relays and HV equipment testing
- Strong understanding of electrical safety rules and switching procedures
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documents
- Experience within substations, utilities or renewable energy projects
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Commissioning Technician role are:
- HV Authorisation or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status
- Experience with transmission and distribution networks
- Background working on renewable projects (solar, wind, BESS)
- Electrical qualifications (ONC/HNC/Degree) in Electrical or Power Engineering
