Commercial Manager
Salary: £75,000 – £80,000 + Car or Car Allowance + Bonus
Hours: Full-Time, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Commercial Manager to take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of a portfolio of construction projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that each project is commercially sound, delivered within budget, and aligned with client expectations.
This is a senior position requiring excellent commercial awareness, strong leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively across project and management teams to drive both performance and profitability.
Main Duties

Take ownership of the commercial success and financial management of allocated construction projects.

Develop, monitor, and report on budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.

Provide sound advice on contracts, procurement strategies, and risk management.

Lead negotiations and manage agreements with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Proactively identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Manage procurement activities, ensuring best value and compliance with company procedures.

Track project progress and prepare regular commercial and financial performance reports.

Maintain robust records and documentation across all commercial activities.

Oversee variations, claims, and change control processes, ensuring accurate financial evaluation.

Support strong working relationships with clients and project partners to resolve issues efficiently and maintain satisfaction.
Required Experience and Qualifications

Proven background as a Commercial Manager in the construction sector.

Deep understanding of contract law, procurement, and project financial management.

Proficient in cost control, reporting, and value management.

Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.

Capable of managing several projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment.

Strong analytical thinking and high attention to accuracy.

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).

Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is desirable.

Competence in modern construction management software and digital tools advantageous.
