Junior Project Manager - Rail

Location: Leicestershire or Birmingham

Salary/ Benefits: Circa £25,000 - £35,000

An award winning SME consultancy that has a vast experience in the delivery and development of specialised services to the railway industry are looking to take on a Junior Project to join their team with a view of upskilling them into a fully fledges Project Manager role to deliver for our clients.

This role is ideal for people with some relevant experience in the rail industry and keen to develop their skills further.

The role essentially comprises a 60:40 split between Project Management activities/training and internal matters to help the Managing Director support our growing business.

As this is a training role, a significant proportion of time would need to be spent at the office in Leicestershire or our Clients' offices who are mostly Birmingham based.

There are very few SME rail consultancies with clients that include both asset management (Network Rail) and railway operational (WMT) demands and as such this is a great learning opportunity for any aspiring railway PM.

With this role comes funded project management training including by the Association of Project Management and bespoke railway training opportunities. Most importantly, we are looking for a motivated self-starter who is keen to contribute to a growing SME start-up in our industry.

Project Management activities will include:

Supporting Network Rail project teams in:

- Preparation of Authority Papers and Budgets
- Requesting Buried Services information
- Requesting and obtaining Pre Construction Information data
- Learning about the rail industry
- GRIP
- PACE
- Contestability
- Components of a Project
- Good project management principles

Supporting West Midlands Trains project teams in:

- Forming and updating trackers and other day-to-day administrative tasks
- Learning about the rail industry:
- Commercial project processes - forecasting, budgets and change control
- Managing contractors on rail projects
- Interfacing with operational railway teams

Supporting the Managing Director on tasks comprising of:

- Invoicing
- Timesheet tracking
- Pool car administration
- Supporting our business as we grow and putting in place processes
- Planning RPS internal activities such as team builds, evening events
- Helping support the Managing Director where required
- Tracking line management activities (1-2-1s etc)
- Supporting the management of pipeline, work winning and recruitment
- ISO administration
- Helping our business learn from expertise
