​What is a Fibre Supervisor?

A Fibre Supervisor is a key profession within the telecoms sector that is responsible for providing supervision and guidance to a team of fibre engineers when installing fibre optics. Usually reporting into a Project Manager, or Fibre Project Manager as Fibre Supervisor assists in surveying sites and ensuring the work is being delivered safely and to a high standard.

What are the typical duties and activities for a Fibre Supervisor?

From employer to employer the job description of a Fibre Supervisor will vary, however typical duties and activities undertaken include:

  • Managing all staff including sub-contractors to ensure work is completed at a high standard and to company guidelines.

  • Carry out audits to make sure health and safety and quality are at the forefront of focus

  • Write, receive and review work packages, safety documentation and relevant drawings to allow personnel to undertake the various tasks to completion of the project.

The ceremonial opening of the Wehrhahn Line in Düsseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, took place on 20 February 2016. The tunnelling project to extend the Düsseldorf Stadtbahn was constructed between 2007 and 2015 through the heart of the city. The total investment in the project is about 843 million euros.
