​What is a Buyer?

The role of a Buyer is to research and purchase materials, supplies and equipment for the business and project they are working on. The role of a Buyer will often require you to be able to negotiate with suppliers to ensure you are getting the best price possible. As a Buyer you will also be responsible for updating inventory and ensuring that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.

Key skills to be successful as a Buyer will include:

 

  • Negotiation

  • Communication

  • Financial and accounting knowledge

  • Supply chain management and logistics

  • IT and stock management software knowledge

What are the typical daily duties for a Buyer Manager?

This multi million pound investment for Port Talbot railway station will become the ‘Regional Parkway’ seeing an large increase on the current yearly 500,000 passengers who use the station. It will include a 200 space car park with a park and ride for commuters, along with improved facilities for cyclists.

Harbour Way

The largest transport project in Wales, supported by European Regional Development Fund Convergence programme and is a major boost for regeneration in the area. It provides a 4.8km link to the M4 at junction 38 into Port Talbot and Harbourside.
