​What is a Bid Writer?

A Bid Writer is responsible for creating and overseeing bids. Bids are a detailed and costed proposal used to help win contracts for construction projects. Most bid managers work within the built environment sector, but they can work in any industry in which work is contracted out. Typical employers of Bid Managers include, construction and engineering contractors and subcontractors.

Key skills to be successful as a Bid Writer will include:

 

  • Identifying opportunities on which to submit bids

  • Planning a successful strategy for winning a bid

  • Researching, writing and/or checking proposals

  • Negotiating with specialist suppliers and/or subcontractors

What are the typical daily duties for a Bid Writer?
